Righto, trying to get to grips with this digital mallarkey and this is my first attempt at processing and editing a RAW file.
I'm using Photoimpact pro just now.
I opened the image in the RAW processor and lightly tweaked the white balance and levels. After that I saved a TIFF copy and worked on that (there was an option of saving as a UFO too). Cropped it down and isolated the eyes for a bit of hue and saturation emphasis, think I altered the exposure slightly too. Made a copy in JPEG for uploading. Saved all the original files and made copies to work on.
So, am I any where near the right track? What does everyone else save their files as after RAW processing?

Really great shot, which I think is spot on. I'm not familiar with the camera, but the Canon I use gives you the option to pre sharpen and you can also do this in the raw converter. Personally I don't think this needs sharpening because you'll start to add artifacts. Well done on a great start in the world of raw.

Thanks folks. I had always thought that all the sharpening had to be done at the end. I recall that there was a sharpening tool in the RAW processer. Good tip for next time.

As a beginner I can't comment usefully/intelligently on the techie stuff...but I love the result of your efforts.
