Taken on the north coast of Crete, I saw this image as an unsual perspective on the usual seaside pictures. Photographing the beach and the sea beyond, through the gap in the wall, I saw the layers on the wall and in the area beyond making an unusual composition for this picture. Taken on a compact without any filters.

I do like this one; as you say, it's a beach scene with a difference, and it ask questions. Hope you don't mind my mod.

I like this a lot — the sea view itself has an almost Rothko-esque feel to it that is well suited to the harsh concrete frame. There's something about the slightly off-centre composition that appeals, too, but I can't put my finger on it.

I find both mods rather harsh — they make the concrete compete for attention with the `painting'. The concrete could be sharpened a little but, if doing that, you need to mask off the sea so it doesn't get over-sharpened.

I love this.. I don't think it would have worked if the layers in the concrete weren't there. I agree with dave's comment that the concrete shouldn't be over-empasised, but i do like the symmetrical crop in the mod - I think it fits well with the abstrcat layered feel.
I've done another mod which does the symmetrical crop and just a boost in saturation, which seems to pull out the different layers a bit, but without over-emphsaisng the conceret as the sharpening does
