I don't really have anything constructive to offer but I think this is FANTASTIC!

Hi Geoff.

This is of course a variation on the last shot, and initially I was not sure if it worked. I do prefer the person and how its more of a silhouette, with a nice line of lighter area on his face and chest.

However, there are a few small areas if addressed might improve it, and in the mod version, Im inclined to prefer this over the first lighter upload.

Suggestions:

Its unlikely you would see the entire horizon on a dark, Moonlit night, so I darkened it, leaving only the foreground sea visible.

Its possible that the Moon may have a area of brightness around it, so it doesnt appear to be dropped into the shot.

The Moon can be a little sharper.

Increase contrast overall for a more realistic cobimation of dark and light.

See mod for comparison.

Hope this helps,

regards

Willie

Great image. Both high and low key are, for me, very successful.
Yes it takes a bright moon to make the horizon viable at night and an exposure to capture that horizon would result in a burnt out moon, but who cares. You are producing art not a photographic record. Good work.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. The moon shot was taken a few months back in March when it made its closest encounter to Earth since 1993 so was incredibly bright that night being 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter. However points taken and thank you.

Ohh, I definately like this mod compared to the other shot. The moon is very dramatic and even's up the weight of the image.

My only pickup would be the shadow of the dude walking on the beach. It wouldn't be in that position, it would be more sweeping to the left with the position of the moon BUT thats just me being a picky cantankerous old git! If I paid more attension to my own images, I too could produce some stunning images like this one!Wink
