Composite of three photos
Girl photographed on Saturday at Haworth 40s weekend.
Huts at Paddy's Hole Redcar
Spitfires at Derwent Dams flyover
I like to shoot candids at reenactments as that allows me to capture real expressions. I use a 300mm lens which is not always easy to keep still, but I've not done too bad.
I'm not sure what she was thinking but later in the day she was dancing around full of joy. I decided to use the sombre expression with these elements blended in Photoshop using layers and masks.
I've partially toned to give an older feel.

Really well put together and excellent components, but I think I'd have preferred her to have been diffused and blended more into the background. Her face is very bright and looks harsh compared with the rest of the image. I know she's the main component of the image, but just a bit too prominent for me. Hey, not that I could do it or anything. ![]()

Thanks all. Chris you're right, the edge may be too sharp. It was intentional to stand out, but having done another version I do prefer a slightly softer edge, But I do still want the lift in tone. I've added a couple more versions 1, 3 or 4 folks?
Top work of art, works so well with lots to like and admire, excellent work

Superb images here Pete. My own personal preference is for V1, although the sepia version comes a close second!

Great set Pete, with some smashing processing.

Some great work here Pete V1& V4 for me make excellent images.
Pete.
Nicely put together Pete,I am with Chris ( Slowsong) on the sharpness/brightness of the face though.
I do like the colours in V1 but prefer the texures in V3 ( except for the very bright part on her left cheek).
Her expression does fit the composite very well.
Nicely done Pete. Nice to see the originals too. I see the benefits of the softer version (3) but I prefer the slight detatchment of the model in V1. It gives her more of an air of loss or sorrow as if shes trying to turn away from whats in the bg, if that makes sense ![]()
