Look what you can achieve with a bit of spit 'n' polish and a cloth....it comes up a real treat.

Part of the front end of an old Chevy. I know cars are not everyone's cup of tea, but I just felt this crop made a great metallic abstract.

V1 is HDR'd
V2 is the original jpeg.
V3 & 4 are variations minus a bit of colourWink

Thanks for the latest comments. Much appreciated, I assure you.

Thanks for bothering.

I think this photo is absolutely brilliant. The glisten of the sun in the metal and paintwork are beautiful. I love it Smile

Not a car I am familiar with, but it does sure roar out of the screen straight at me Smile
I can't help finding the colours garish (even the original) which is doubtless because all my old-car books are in strict black & white, publ. B.T.Batsford 1960-ish; also Northumberland is currently subjected to heavy rain and black skies! But I really love the angle that you've chosen and the delicious little twinkle off the headlight. V4, please!
Regards
Bill

I'm not a great fan of HDR usually, but v1 has zoomed off the page at me! However, I particularly like v3 and v4, particularly that little ping of sun on the lamp!

Just like Ann above, I'm not a fan of HDR (well, not in every case anyway), but it lends itself beautifully to this subject, and V1 has to be my favourite, lovely bit of detail of the vehicle, lots of shine, nice composition and a beautifully abstract style, which is why this looks so good in HDR I think. It has beautifully enhanced the cloudy sky reflection bottom left, and given it a real zing.

Striking complementary blue and orange here - enhanced by the HDR treatment. Works well with this kind of image. I also rather like the black and white of v4.

Very good shot Malc - great crop. The HDR in V1 gives a great result and it is my favourite closely followed by V4.

Great image and the old car has stood up to the ravages of time well, I was looking at a new Chevy just a while back and the metal flexed by the pressure of one finger, doubt it will last like this fine example.

A pristine looking set of wheels here, Malcolm: what a superb old motor. I too prefer the coloured versions, and the original V 2 rather than the HDR version gets my vote.
