Before going on I'm very happy to tell you that I'm once again the owner of a new computer. The Acer packed in on me over a week ago, took it back to the shop, they checked it out, couldn't find what was wrong and said they'd have to send it away for further checks, and that would take about 2 weeks, I told them that wasn't acceptable to me and that I wasn't happy with the computer anyhow. They came back later with an offer of a new computer in exchange, which I gladly accepted so - hopefully - all my computer woes are now behind me, once I get everything set-up again, which I'm still working on.

Enough of that, now to this image. Our grandaughter brought this flower to our cottage in Cape Breton, said she'd found it in the bushes along the front, growing wild apparently, I thought it was orchid like, but Mary thinks it's some kind of lily, who's right.......or are we both wrong?

It looks like an iris to me Jim. I think some do grow wild. It's a great shot. So glad you got your computer problems settled and soon you'll be all back to things working as should.........Sandy

To be fair to Mary, on reflection an iris may well be what she thought it was, I was quoting from memory, not a good idea at my advanced age! Wink

V1 is lovely...we call them "blue flag" here in the states. They grow wild in moist areas, iris it is.

I saw this iris featured in issue 174 of G
GARDENS ILLUSTRATED over breakfast this morning--the article suggested that it will grow exceptionally well in moist places , even better in onds-- to the point of being invasive---

must be deer proff as well then!

A couple of lovely close-ups, Jim.

Thank you for your kind comments upon my previous upload, I am quite fit except for being a bit stiff in the bones, so thank goodness that my Fuji S9600 has a 'swivel' LCD screen so that I don't have to crouch down too far for any low angle close-ups etc, Smile .
Here's to the next 60 years, lol.

It's definitely an iris Jim, not sure which variety though. I'm sure epz's resident botanical expert Ann, "EAS" will be able to id it for you if you pm her. The details, colours and presentation are first class in these two fine images
