Hello from Adelaide...
Thank you for your continued support, apologies for falling behind with voting, will catch up soon. Thank you to EileenH for her UA ....much appreciated.

It is a very sad day for South Africa with the death of Nelson Mandela. My husband was very honored to have met him over ten times, some on a one to one basis through business when Mr Mandela was our President. He said he was always full of stories and very humble.

Gwynn mentioned that he wanted to see Koalas and kangaroos, so herewith Koalas today.... Actually he wasnt laughing he was yawning as a group of noisy school kids woke him up.GrinGrinGrin (seeV3 fast asleep)
They are solitary arboreal (tree-living) marsupials. they sleep during the day and feed at night only on the leaves of a few species of eucalypt tree. Koalas have no need to drink water because of the high water content of their leaf diet.
I am also including a strange little fella called a Long-nosed Echidna. They have a very long sticky tongue used for catching and eating ants.
Have a nice day

Poor fellow being awoken from his slumbers. I was told once there doleful expression is because they are bombed out on the drugs in the eucalyptus they eat. Hope your enjoying all that Oz can offer. GrinGrin Peter.

I don’t think she is quite asleep in V3 yet. They sleep to eighteen
hours a day and only eat special gum leaves for everything they need
in their diet You were so lucky to catch this one awake.
Great captures for sure…..WinkWinkWink

Greetings from SA (South Australia, not South Africa). Good shots of the koala. The last animal appears to be an echidna, or spiny ant-eater. We see them in my area. Running over them can ruin a car tyre, and its not much good for the echidna either!

So cute. I have never seen a koala doing anything but sleep or munch. In the "bush" they are very difficult to spot but we had a friend with exception koala spotting eyes but unfortunately in those days - no camera -

Lovely of the Koala.
I don't think I have seen one for real.
Yesterday I watched/heard a video of a male one calling the
ladies, what an amazing racket he made !!
Love the last 'version' too .. the hedgehog gone wrong, lol.

Great shots Colleen - Australia has a lot to offer on the wildlife front. The last image is an echidna, otherwise known as a spiny ant eater, not a potoroo.

Lovely captures, Colleen. I like the little 'smile' on the koala in V2 Grin

And that's a really sweet shot of the echidna Smile If I'm not wrong, one of only two creatures in the classification of monotreme...egglaying mammals. The other being the platypus.

I love the name of a monotreme's young - a puggle Grin
