Well, we decided on Low Petergate, and that was when we came across The Magic Ball Man, about five minutes later! Taken in King's Square - I don't know why these areas are called 'squares', as invariably they're not; this one's actually triangular - and I pointed the camera upwards at this signpost. There was a great contrast between it and the sky, so processed the Raw file twice, once for the sky and again for the foreground, and blended the two together in Photomatix.

Techie stuff – see Exif
Single Raw image processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Photomatix Pro and Elements 6.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

Ah! At 18mm. you have captured everything so crisply, Trev: great idea getting down low and shooting up like this....makes for a really dramatic shot and statement.

There is so much choice in York given the compact nature of the old centre; it puts many much larger cities to shame.
Love the use of the pov.

Whichever way you decide to go, Trev, pop into the shop out of shot that's advertising 'Food To Go'...it might be further than you think and a snack along the way would be welcome. Alternatively, stop at the first pub along the route.Wink

That's a fine shot and with all those different ways to go I think you chose just the right one to make the best of the image.
