I promised images of the train(s) on the Ffestiniog Mountain Railway - I realise that I don't have a good broadside image of the Double Fairley "David Lloyd George" which confidently took took us on our 70 minute journey climbing 710 feet to Blaenau Ffestiniog from Porthmadog. So here is a selection of images to build up an overall picture.

The first is taken as we were travelling looking past the dome and whistle into the cab. The driver is not looking the wrong way - the train is what I would call a "push-me-pull-you" with engines facing both forward and back!

I hope you enjoy some of the images!
Mike

Lovely series about the trains here Mike. You boys never grow old when it comes to trains and engines, oil and steam, do you?

Love V1 and the way you stand back for V2. And third class compartments, those were the days. Second class vanished but third class carried on...

What a fine set of photographs, Mike! V1 is rather special, a view that few would have thought to look at let alone photograph. Personally I can't fault it.

Bill

Lovely set Mike, particularly like V1 it somehow works particularly well that the driver is facing away from the camera.
kind regards,
Robin

V1 is very good. I like it not being a conventional 3/4 head on shot of the whole thing, but looks at the shapes etc. that characterise the engine. Nice one. V2-5 are fine as well but a little more, dare I say, record-ish.

A fine collection of images Mike, really like the first with the back of the engineers head, but all great takes, Adrian

I see what you mean now Mike re the latter shots, however they do add to the whole scenario and are far more competant than the average snapshot.

Version one though is a real gem !
