v2 for me Alan, I like the quality of the light and the imposing bollard in the foreground - a strong composition. v1 just looks a little lightweight in comparison.

Both are excellent mono images Alan. If I had to chose it would be version 2

I think it was this same capstan that featured in another member's shots recently: two impressive compositions, Alan, with V 2 possibly my favourite.

Two very good mono images, Alan, the low pov and the capstan as foreground interest work well.

Very nice, V1 for me, Alan. Nice detail and texture on the stone slabs, and it's nice to see the capstan in the "spotlight".

Two cracking mono shots. I find the composition of V1 most appealing although it could benefit with slightly more contrast to beef up the blacks.

Interesting comparison. The vote's for V2, which creates a relationship between foreground, background and sky.
