Jenn, they were hewn in situ as here and then brought down the hill. Rather like the way the Eqyptians used to make their obelisks.

Just got back from a week in Scotland, a small villlage near Loch Lomond, went to Glencoe and Fort William yesterday, Guess what.................Rain all day, i kept looking over my shoulder to see if you were there Malcolm !!!!!!!!!!!
