The image instantly comes alive with the background allowing one to sit back and admire the beauty of the flower without any unnesesary distractions.

I much prefer this. I was trying to express thoughts on the first upload and gave up - I preferred the lighter background but it looked flat, greyish. This looks much more 'right'.
It's important that the effect of the background harmonises with the light falling on the subject, and that works better here.
