There have been many photos of these beautiful horses that have won acclaim and been featured in well known publications. National Geographic is one. I have also been lucky enough to win Photo of the Week on EPZ.
It has been written that the photographer waited for days for the horses to group together and run towards them. I had also wondered how they had been lucky enough to be in the right place to see this spectacle. The reality is that you need the Guardians (or owners) of these horses to drive them towards you. The horses are found in the paddocks or land near the owners homes. Not out to sea frolicking and then running towards the lucky photographer who has been camped out for a few days waiting for the right moment. The run is over in seconds and you might manage about 6 or 7 runs during a shoot after a hard slog getting to the area. Not a lot of time to get it just right in camera.
Nonetheless they are very photogenic and it is great fun and many people have got absolutely beautiful images of these magnificent animals in this stunning environment.
