In near total darkness I took this final image of St Michael's Mount last August. The long exposure smoothed the sea out nicely but I'm not really sure about this one. Ideally I would have been further left enabling me to have an unobscured view of The Mount but it was too dark to move around safely and those fg shells were just begging for attention.

Lovely image of the Mount, the tones throughout and the forground detail are excellent. Another great image, Alun.

Under the conditions you describe I think you have captured a marvellous image, Alun: better to be safe than sorry.......moving around on wet rocks with seaweed is treacherous enough in daylight, never mind near darkness. Very well captured.

Good details in the foreground and low light work too, just wonder about the strength of the red/ orange reflection to LHS does it draw the eye too much? un decided.

The depth and clarity are A1 Alun. the long exposure has done a lovely job on the sky and water. I understand what you are saying about being further left but honestly I think it works well as it is.

Thanks for the feedback. Very much appreciated.
Richard - that has been bothering me too, so you're probably right.
Ronnie - too right! The thought of dunking my photo gear in salt water always makes me err on the side of caution!
Derek - thanks m8, but it still troubles me Smile

simply wonderful - I'd give you an extra prize for NO cars or tourists.
I like the way you put important detail in the foreground! much more important than the island itself

The fg is the star here, and the little cluster of shells on the stone. Claritt and that wonderful natral coour are very special indeed, the mount is a supporting player in this image. Beautiful use of the long exposure.

I think this works well! The Mount has such a distinctive shape that it's recognisable even when slightly obscured as it is here and as it's in the background, it doesn't draw attention away from the lovely detailed foreground!

As ever another stunning shot you really are the master of landscape in my eyes, I love the details on the rock and you can even see the shells in the water, beautiful

Superb result Alun, I never would have guessed you'd taken this in the dark, great shot.
