This is a pose Megan wanted to do as it is how she finishes her dance routine to Michael Jackson's Bad. She insisted on leaning back against the wall so the shadow is a bit harsher than I would have liked but does it detract too much?
Lit with a single SB-700 flash and shoot through brolly and the background is the painted wall of her brother's bedroom.
Any other feedback welcome too.

I think the bright reflection off the wall could be toned down, and it doesnt do any harm to soften the wall detail. Its not a big distraction for me. Whats a little more distracting is she isnt looking at the camera, but somewhere over my left shoulder!

Ive loaded a mod, - apart from the wall, see if you can find other changes!

Regards

Willie

The image is well shot and well processed, and yes, the highlight could be brought down, but they aren't too bad as is. I would prefer a different top to this black one, as it isn't in keeping with the rest of the clothing - maybe something grungy like a rock band/tour t-shirt perhaps.
Willie, looking at her eyes carefully, I think she was looking at the camera, but has a slight squint in her right eye. You can get round this by shooting at an angle or getting her to turn her head 45 deg and just look at the camera without directly facing it. If you shot at a slight angle, rather than straight front-on, it should also reduce the hotspots on the wall.

Some good advice there, Nick, thanks. I will try to remember the slight angles you suggest.
The black top was actually a leotard she had been wearing for her dance show. I agree that it doesn't look right but she knows best when it comes to fashion!
Cheers,
Phil

This is nicely done. A much better pose than previously. I think it is just a touch over lit with some highlights close to blown, but not quite. Just needs to be half a stop darker.

Nice pic Phil, good pose there do seem to be too many blue items, but nothing you can do about that. Well done.

I have just had another look at the RAW file and, whilst not technically over exposed, it does benefit from moving the recovery slider to about 50%. The skin and hotspot on the wall look much better.
Thanks Paul,
Phil

Willie, you had me very confused there for a minute but I have just realised that my reply hasn't uploaded for some reason.
I couldn't see anything at first so I placed the 2 versions side by side and played spot the difference. There may be a slight shift in skin tone although that could be caused by toning down highlights. Eventually the main difference hit me: you made her smileGrin
If you have done anything else then I will need more clues!
Thanks as always for the mod and feedback.

Like the eye contact and lighting but agree that the back ground would be better darken to make her stand out more.
Also bright down the highlights is a good suggestion
