The boss headed into town yesterday so I headed for the hills hoping for a landscape: no such luck there but I did come across a field of these beauties.
I had to lie flat out with the camera at ground level to capture this specimen against a greyish threatening sky.
As usual, my regaining a more orthodox posture would have made for an interesting candid had anyone so inclined been around.

My thanks as ever for the kind comments on An Autumn View.

Ronnie.

Quite the stunner this one Ronnie, think I might try giving it a portrait crop which would crop out the one or two distracting grasses IMHO, just an idea of course.

As for your problems of getting back up off the ground, well trust me mate you want to see some of the tricks I get up to sometimes, it would have you in fits of laughter!.....I've even had folk come up to me asking if I'm alright and if I need an ambulance before now Tongue

and so clear...a winner all the way Ronnie

Very well captured Ronnie. Beautiful colour and detail. Loads of these in the park where I walk the dogg - but ground too wet to try to lie down to get shots Sad, and they are so small. Moira

You've caught the delicate colours and fragile nature of these flowers which are everywhere at the moment, mostly in places where a modicum of clambering stooping or general making a fool of oneself is necessary. You got the shot so who cares my friend.

Standing proud and tall in all its lonely majesty, Ronnie. NO, that is not a description of your geed self when you eventually regained an upright posture againWink but a description of this very finely taken and composed image.

We have some of these growing in a field not too far away from where I live, and as you say , Ronnie, to photograph them at this angle and viewpoint, you certainly do need to get down low! Wink Well worth the effort of grovelling about on the ground, a cracking shot. It stands so very well against the background, and that grass I think has a sort of painterly effect. I don't find the those stray blades of grass distracting, but think add to the composition Smile Think I might just have to give it my Award...
