Help! I think this is a willow warbler- it's legs are a bit pinky from other photos but it's not clear. Can anyone out there tell me if this is a willow warbler or a chiff chaff, and why, please?

Pretty much impossible to say for sure. Although the darkish legs of this youngster may indicate that it is a chiffchaff (willow warblers tend to have pale, orange legs), there are willows with darker legs as well. The willow warbler has a longer primary projection (to do with wing feathers) but this can't be seen in your photo. The best way to tell the two apart is by listening to their song.

Thanks very much for your helpful comments- no singing going on and i thought the legs looked a bit pinky....i have other pics of teh bird though and will investigate further.
