I wanted to take a picture of herself with the sea behind, and after much faffing trying to get the background about right (Poole Power Station stack over the shoulder, for example) I got this shot. The day was sunny but very windy, and I like to think the hair blowing about, together with the mottled sun through the trees, makes for am interesting picture???? Given her expression, perhaps too much faffing...

The above is about 1/6 from the total frame taken on my D800E. I'll upload the full frame tomorrow. Be interesting to read comments on that too.

Andrew

Oh, and thanks to all those who've kindly commented on my bird & landscape shots. Hope I can improve my people photography too?

Always sort the background out first then introduce the model maybe then you will get a more spontaneous look with a smile.
The background is too far away with too much sky to make it appealing but the cross lighting and exposure on the subject is good and i do like the dappled light.
If you would like to improve your backgrounds then read up on 'good bokeh' or google it.
Trevor.
