Here's a shot from last week that I thought I'd have a mess around with.

Very ineteresting shot, nice contrast.
Plenty of impact in this and good eyes. I don't think the red nail adds anything, but it is subtle enough not to spoil the shot.
Fantastic portrait. Great title and work.
Great lighting, I agree with digicammad the nail did not work probably as it is very small, at first I did not notice it. It may of worked if all the nailes had the effect, though the image does not need any gimmicks as it has great impact already.
My preference would also probably be for this shot to be completely mono, however it is very well lit and I love the contrasty work up.
To be honest, the fact that only one nail is red is why I think it doesn't detract. Selective colouring needs to be done carefully and with subtlety, more nails would definitely spoil the shot.
Different and striking...
Works well I think
Great shot, and really like the off centre comp.
Great title. Gets my vote.
Masterful play on words in the title.
Cheers all. I took the weekend off after naming this one!
Horrible pun, nice shot. Plenty of drama in the lighting and I like the composition (including the one red nail).
Not very flattering though is it? I think I'd be strongly tempted to retouch - particularly the under-eye areas. Still deserves a vote.
Quote: Horrible pun
It is genius. You are talking gonads
Quote: Not very flattering though is it?
Does it have to be? I don't imagine Karsh was collared by people asking why his Churchill shot wasn't particularly flattering...
Try and look at the image for what it is, not what you imagine it should be.
I know it can be improved, and your critiques will always be welcome, i just don't think it's hugely valid on this occasion, but I'm sure others will disagree.
That's fair enough Danny - I made the comment without checking your porfolio, so I didn't know if it was deliberately left like that or not (I can see you certainly know what you're doing and it's a conscious decision). Seeing it was in the nude/glamour category I was making assumptions. I'd say as the 'artist' it's your call and if you don't think it's relevant, it's not relevant - I don't see that anyone could argue with that.
Do Gonads ride camels? - I can never remember, is that one lump or two?
Thanks for taking the time to comment back though. That's what I love about this site, is that each individual has a totally different view of each shot.
I don't really do "flattering" - I mostly try to represent the models for what they are, although I confess to using a little PS work to make the shot work.
