Great Spotted Woodpecker (dendrocopos major)
A lovely bird who has been giving me a bit of fun just recently with appearances ot the local hide. In common with so many people have found birds a bit sparse this year so this one has been a very welcome visitor. Dont want to wish the year away but it will be quite nice next spring to hear one hammering away in the woods.
Hope you like him.
Thanks all for the very generous response to the Reed Warbler.
Ron

Just had our first Woody in the garden today, first we have seen for over 2 years, I think it was a juvenile, I got a quick shot and it was gone, it came back and I missed the shot (to slow to re-act)............but a joy to see one............GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin
