I spied this Snakes head Fritillary under the trees in the woodland walk at West Dean, Singleton, West Sussex.

There was just a little glimmer of light breaking through the tree's which made it like a jewel in the woods.

Lovely shot, Ann, with the bloom so well isolated from the b/g - I think I prefer the slightly brighter V 2, but there's not much in it.

I've been seeing a of of these Frillitaria on EPZ but I think this one is the best I've seen, such a beautiful colour especially in V1.
