Here's my attempt at a formal portrait of Woody, unashamedly in the style of that great portrait of the black labrador that graced EPZ last year. I'm not for one minute suggesting it's anywhere near as good, but I've enjoyed the challenge and my wife likes it, so that's the main thing.
He's been cut from the original shot, placed on a black background and blended in as best as possible. Shadow detail has been a mixture of gradients and burning-in.

Hope it's not still raining where you are.

Cheers,
Simon

The lighting really brings out the face, and the dark background sets it off. Nice portrait shot.
