pfew... that's a pretty impressive piece of photography Pooch.
Go large peeps !
(ah... this is your first D3 upload, isn't it ?)
Am not really sure to be honest, somehow he's too frozen and not looking very sporty or very active, or even the slightest bit out of breath, if that makes sense!
Old unwanted toys of any description welcome in Crete ![]()
As its taken from the front Lydia, you wouldn't get any blurring as in a pan shot for instance giving the impression of speed, and as for being out of breath Wayne and his wife compete at national level and are so sickeningly fit they never looked out of breath up hill or down hill all day long, not like me following them around on foot.
Pooch.
I like the composition and the flash has helped lift it.
If there was one thing I could criticise it would have to be the image quality. Man, it's terrible. What has happened here that is so different from your other uploads? Noisy as hell, blurry, I'm not convinced that the focus has locked on, and the exposure doesn't look even, as if the shutter is faulty. Have I mentioned the white balance? Jeeez. Is anything in the world really that colour?
On another note, I am in the market for another camera and was wondering if you could keep your eye out for me? I don't even mind something "nearly" new.
All the best, Nev.
I would call this enormously impressive. The D3 wow, is it really so good that people make the switch from the 5D to it? I always have loved 5D and 1Dmk whatever images, they are the only digital photos I recognize the handwriting of. In the 5D it's the soft, filmy colors and I'd almost say grain, in the 1D whatever the lighting seems magical. This D3 almost seems too deadly sharp and accurate about everything for me. I've seen loads of night shots that, to be honest, mess up the whole idea of the beauty of high iso. Ah well, you know that I am utterly conservative in my photographic taste. I am sure that you will make this baby sing. You, Koen, David Deveson and Kitsch are some of those who can make a digital camera sing with emotion, tenderness, rock with erotics, and show full force lust for life. Let's see how you use this one. And don't forget to send me the 5D plus lenses
, I'll PM you my private address. It goes without saying that I'll cover for the postage costs, I'm not a bad guy. Cheers Pooch, Bert
Had to sell everything I had to get camera body and one lens Bert, I've found when the iso does kick in, its seems to me to have a nice quality that looks more like a film grain? as for the sharpness its the same as any other camera I've owned it can be sharp or not as sharp thats up to me and how I adjust it. I will probably re-tread some old ground to compare results against my 5D just out of curiousity? and as it goes I'm going to go and do some garden work for my old friend Roger soon, which will mean a chance to shoot in his house which is always a challenge I enjoy, anyway an afternoon of his anecdotes are always worth the visit on there own.
looking forward to seeing you get everything out of this one you can. It will tell us all what kind of camera it is. You are totally right that it's you who decides. Cheers, Bert
Well, everybody's dream camera certainly seems to be doing well in your capable hands. A nice crisp shot well worth an HC (at least), although I'm not sure the angle is wholly flattering to the rider who looks a bit compressed. Love the expression of concentration.
Lucy
LOL pooch, it does, the shutter on my d200 sounds the same, especially when its set to a fast shutter speed, youll get used to it. enjoy, coming down your way on 6th june, hayle. just hope the weather is kind to us, i need some phototherapy.
well done on the hc
daz.
One of the best mountain bike shots I've seen for a long time. It puts alot of the shots I've seen in magazines lately to shame. You've got a great expression, lots of sharp detail, good exposure and movement in the wheels and a nice lead through the shot with the track.
With reference to the comment that he's too static. Looking at cycling sales through my website and shoots I've been booked for with British Cycling, this is what racers want, a clear shot of themselves with movement just in the wheels and possibly feet. Photography magazines seem to like the blurred speed shot, but not riders or anyone after publicity shots.
There's a marvellous clarity and sense of reality to this shot Pooch .... like I need to move out of the way or he's going to knock me over.
Must say that I can't take any sport seriously where you've got to wear a helmet that makes you look like an extra from Mars Attacks though, so I'll decline on the sporting critique.
Hope you're enjoying the new cam and looking forward to seeing more shots from it.
powerful and the sharpness is spot on. great action shot pooch
di
I looked at the ISO setting and could not believe it, WOW!! what a difference £3000 makes, hope you can make the capital back this year, this is a great shot Pooch, cant wait to see more of your expertise, great to be in touch with some top of the range kit at last. Chen.
