Both are wonderful images, great photographs! Congrats!

Lovely shot!

Really like both images - very atmospheric. The colours on the floor/chair and walls are great but personally not keen on colours in the window. Have you considered combining both and perhaps having a B&W version with colours on the chair/floor?

I like the colour especially on and around the chair,
but I love the mono.
Think 'surfinsurveyor's' idea is a good one.

The mono is the most pleasant to view. The color goes for the gritty reality. Very different moods in these.

The monochromatic makeover is simply stunning, a real masterpiece, so very perfectly composed, a sheer delight to view and admire greatly. As for the colour a very worthy runner up.

I normally go for colour Darryl,
but in this case mono I think.
Seems the ''grottier'' of the two !!
Super shot.

A well-thought out composition and especially good monochrome. The blotchy walls make an excellent contrast with the clean lines of the window, chair and shadow. Excellent!

Cathedral-like splendour plus magnificent grot. Normally b&w would win hands down - except for that wonderful coloured light on the floor in V2. Can't decide.

Daryyl. Great to see you are back in doors! I like both images because the coloured version has a limited colour palette so as such not to be so different. Strong composition, sharp and dramatic. Like a film set. The use of the chair prop really works. A few considerations. I think the top of the window could be set further in to the image to improve its balance. There is a lot of spare space around the image and I wonder whether an over lay of a rule of thirds grid allowing a re-composition and ultimately some further cropping might improve the overall composition. A smaller square or even a portrait orientation might even be considered. I have mentioned this before but you work is taken in some really difficult locations with regards to available light and exposure. If you are not considering full HDR maybe reprocess your original (RAW) image three times -2. 0. +2 and merging in PS to extend the tonal range and recover some of the details that have been blocked.

Regards

Russell

Mono for me, definitely. The colour version is lovely, but a touch overcooked in certain areas for my tastes (the reds round the window frame, for example, but I don't know if that's residual paint?). Some great ideas above about combining the two versions for a more muted colour/mono combination. I think your composition is superb, and it makes for a very effective image in a great location.

Like the mono best Darryl.
For me I would make the image a portrait for immediate impact.Crop close to the window on the left and crop to the right of the window reflection.Hope you don't mind me saying.

very finest.. for some reason i think the color has it.. because of better representation of ambiance which are equally important in the context of the image.. bah! they both are superb anyway.

Got to be mono for me .

I think mono for me as the tones and detail are their own strength in this shot, could almost be a prison atmosphere! stark cold and harsh, but has a reality about it, great photo in my humble estimation, regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

This is the sort of image I wished I'd taken myself - the lighting, the tones, the position of the old chair in the light of the window suggesting some kind of interrogation of yesteryear. An image full of narrative possibilities and oh, dear, how I wished it were mine.
