Just watched a program about Einstein and gravity where he had difficulty in unifying gravity and electromagnetic forces - he should have asked this coot!

No digital manipulation - the bird is stood on top of a metal post just under water. Lots of birds take turns standing on it.

Being black and white, coots can be difficult to set the right exposure for. This was shot 2/3 of a stop under to avoid blowing the highlights on the white feathers on the beak. Although the beak looks over exposed on the posting there's plenty of detail on the original.
