Day 203: Cherry Blossoms

discreetphoton Everything seems to be bursting into life this week, which is a pretty good sign that the warm weather is on itís way. Cherry trees line most of the streets around this area, and it really does give the place a face-lift. Nikon D300; Tamron 18-270mm PZD @ 270mm; ISO 200; F/10; 1/200s. VC on.

discreetphoton Taken in front of the church at Hooton Roberts before starting work, and loaded into Pixlr, just to see what it did. Nikon D300; Tamron 18-270mm PZD @ 70mm; ISO 320; F/11; 1/250s. VC on.

Day 188: Angelfish

discreetphoton I spent most of my day hoping to get a glimpse of a kingfisher that didnít show. You canít win them all. Maybe Iím the only one who saw the shape of a fish in these plant stems. Day 13: Closing in...

discreetphoton There's a piece of conventional wisdom amongst photographers that you should compose with your feet, not your zoom lens. However, having a zoom lens does give you the capabilities of several focal lengths in one housing. Picking a focal length before you shoot is a good way of forcing yourself ...

Day 4: Making an ImpressionÖ

discreetphoton Iíve always loved the work of Monet. The illusion that detail could be created by just a few representative paint daubs. This is something that I like to produce in my photographs, and is one of the reasons that Iíve had a bit of a love affair with fast lenses over the last few years. Normally th...
