Arty Windmill

conradA few days ago, I took this iPhone image of a Dutch windmill in passing. Except for a relatively interesting sky it didn't have much going for it, so I started playing around with it in different apps. After taking it through about three apps, this was the result:

Merry Christmas

conrad... and God bless us, everyone! :-)

Three Versions

conradSome time ago I took a quick grab shot with my iPhone of a windmill I passed in a part of my country that I don't often visit. I had a play with the image in a few apps, and I thought I'd show you how very different some of the results were. Below you will see, respectively, a Snapseed version a...

Family History Connection

conradA few months ago I visited the smallest 'city' in the Netherlands: Bronckhorst, in the province of Gelderland. It's only a few streets with a handful of houses, but it has city rights, and is therefore officially a city. (Ironically, although in houses and population it's the smallest city of the co...

GrungeTastic

conradI've been discovering of late that adding grunge effects to images can make simple and even quite dull-looking shots more interesting. But of course, like everything in life, you can overdo it. And the app I tried this time can easily drive one to use over the top effects, I found. But the way it do...

Grab Sunset

conradThe idea I had today to visit a few locations I don't usually pass on my way home and take some photos didn't work out due to traffic queues I really wanted to avoid. So instead of a picturesque route I followed one that didn't have one thing I wanted to photograph. Finally the light went, and su...

One More

conradYou can never have enough windmill photos, that's my motto. So when I knew I was going to visit someone in the middle of the day today in a part of the country I don't visit too often, a part that happens to be full of nice windmills, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to use the return journe...

One Less

conradIt's a sad week for those who love (Dutch) windmills, which includes me. Youths in Burum (Friesland, a northern province of the Netherlands) decided to burn a stack of Bibles (which is a deed which should raise concern anyway, but it gets worse...), and sparks from the fire set the nearby 200 ye...

Singled Out

conradVariation on the theme of today's upload to the Gallery. I keep looking at my shots from yesterday, because it was such a wonderfully sunny day, and today is such a dark, dreary and rainy day. In this shot I've singled out a daffodil and concentrated on it, with the windmill just a background blu...

Couldn't Resist

conradI've had a very busy two weeks, especially the last week - and the weekend was crazy busy. Fifteen, sixteen hour workdays, in bed by 2:00 A.M. Exhausting, and no time to myself. But yesterday when I was rushing about to get everything in my crazy schedule done, and just before leaving the apartme...

The Other Way Around

conradThinking about how much I've come to love using the apps on my iPhone, and what wonderful effects I can create with them in a matter of seconds, but seeing that I was running out of nice images on my 'film roll' that I could play with, I suddenly had the idea that I could turn things around: Why...

Not So Awesome

conradThere are many smartphone apps to help you process your images on your phone and make them more interesting without transferring them to a desktop or laptop computer. I've tried out a few, and some are really nice. There are some silly and not terribly useful ones, but also a few very good ones. ...

Spring Is In The Air

conradOr at least snowdrops and crocuses seem to think it is! In front of the windmill near me there's a lawn with a lot of crocuses, and a few snowdrops, and it's beginning to look really good. It may be a bit early to enjoy really nice spring weather, but the sun did come out a few times today, so...

One More

conradHi, I'm Conrad, and I'm a windmill addict. I've been sober for two days, but now I just have to upload another windmill shot. Sorry, but I can't help myself. So ... here's another one, processed with Snapseed:

App Happy

conradI realise that not everyone likes grunge effects, old film looks and arty-looking borders for iPhone photos. So although I've started liking all of those options more and more, sometimes you just have to try less drastic methods, right? So here's another windmill shot from my iPhone (I just happe...
