Blaise castle estate is a huge parkland situated near Henbury in Bristol covering around 650 acres. It consists of huge open green fields, with areas to play cricket, football and other sports as well as masses of woodlands and a stream.

The castle itself is hidden from view on entering the park and can be found within a clearing at the top of a hill surrounded by lush woodlands rich in wildlife.

There is a huge limestone gorge with many paths winding through the woods and alongside the stream cutting through the valley. There are also excellent pathways for people with pushchairs and wheelchairs etc, although I am not sure if any of these even concrete pathways lead to the castle.

On the opposite side of the gorge to the castle is a rhododendron walk, where you will also find a unique cottage, well worth photographing.
There are plenty of opportunities for photography, from capturing dogs chasing the squirrels, dramatic scenery to mushrooms, plants, small waterfalls and bridges, a couple of ponds, the castle or cottage.
There is a cafe on site and two large childrens playgrounds filled with activities. There is often an ice cream van on site too. Toilets and a car park are both provided.

One area I've not checked out yet is the museum within the grounds - I will let you know what it is like when I've checked it out.
Be warned this is a huge place and it can easily take the whole day to walk around especially when taking photographs.
