Cornwall is quite a magical location for photographs. It has a magnificent rocky coastline with golden beaches and fantastic surf for those brave enough! Very popular and busy in the summer months, I find it is best to visit in either May or September. Weather is still good but the roads are quieter!

Other than the coastline there is plenty to photograph. A visit to Bodmin moor will provide plenty of varying lanscapes, and a few waterfalls as well. There are harbours such as Padstow and Mevagissey which provide plenty of photographic opportunities. And at the end of a busy day taking photographs, relax and watch the sunset (weather permitting of course!)

Best day photographically was a day spent on Bodmin Moor around Golitha Falls, The Cheesering and The Hurlers.

Spent all day at these three locations even though they are quite close together. The Hurlers & The Cheesering are both easily to get to from the car park, although the latter is about a mile or so to walk. The village, whose name escapes me for the minute, where the car park is situated also has agood pub / hotel that has live music most friday nights, which kinda finishes the day off nicley.

If you like the sea and are old enough to remember Fraggle Rock then take a trip to St Anthony Head opposite St Maws. There are some great little beaches along the road to the headland and on the headland. If it is not school hols you will find them quiet mid week.

Avoid StAustel, but visit the Lost Gardens at Helegan, Eden Project, St Ives (tourist trap in a genteel English way but a really lovely old town if you look around and the Barbara Hepworth garden is worth the visit alone).

Get to see St Michael's Mount and form your own opinion. I really like it.

I personally think Lands End is a waste of a visit and what has been done to it is a travisty.

You are spoiled for choice, much of the coast is breathtaking. I like Kynance Cove , it is a coastal stretch and beach the NT own. That photo was taken in August in the morning, just before the masses arrived. Now I am starting to learn about landscape photography I would love to go back again. Also if you have children the small beach is great for them, with crashing waves and good sand if the tide is out, of course keep them away from the rocks. The little Caf at the bottom is worth a visit too. And the walk is good for a bit of exercise. I bet it is impressive at this time of year.

Go to a National Trust Shop and get their small reasonably priced pamphlets on walks. Dont dismiss Land's End go to Sennen Cove and walk to Lands End, you can avoid the tourist trap and walk around the exterior. Number one on my list Chapel Porth stunning photographs of Wheal Coates on the cliff path. Bedruthan Steps, Newquay is another. St. Ives is a definite but avoid the expensive car parks and park free at Lelant and take the train in. You can get off at Carbis Bay and enjoy the easy walk to the town. On the way back drive through Zennor and visit the Merry Maidens, and Men an tol for the standing stones. You wont be disappointed.

St Agnes Beacon and the cliffs around there are excellent photo places, including Wheal Kitty tin mine. Not too touristy either and free parking IIRC.

Cornwall is a photographers dream, I particularly like Mevagissy, Polzeath, Rock, Perranporth, Padstow, Polperro, Port Isaac, all wonderful coastal villages. Tintagel and Boscastle would be a must for me aswell, hope you have a wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing your shots.

If you take a walk through Rocky Valley, near Boscastle, this is the view of the coastline you get at the end
This is Booby's Bay in North Cornwall, supposed to be spectacular in a storm!
At the southern end of Cornwall, this is taken from Cape Cornwall looking over to Sennen Cove where the sea is at its warmest!
And finally, a North Cornwall sunset. Taken at Bedruthan Steps

That first picture looks very familiar to one that I took years ago with my old SLR. I wondered what the place was called - Golitha falls. Here's my pic I took back then.link

I had this one enlarged to canvas and is still on my wall Smile (It looks better than the link)
I'll have to visit Cornwall again sometime.
