My adopted town Darwen, in Lancashire was once a typical northern industrial town, dominated by textile, and later the paper manufacturing industries, this is not the case today.
Small high tech industries are now the norm, and subsequently housing developments on the fringe of the town have been built to accommodate the many commuters working in the area. Having said that, Darwen sits in a valley, situated on the edge of the West Pennine moors and close to the Ribble valley and Forest of Bowland, and offers nature lovers and walkers great scope.
I hope the following images convey some of the more rural aspects of the town.
