Spurn Point is a truly unique place in England situated on the North bank of the entrance to the River Humber. A beautiful place for bird watching, sea fishing, walking or just a day out with the family.
It is a nature reserve and as such no dogs are allowed in the area. Cars can go all the way down to a carpark situated a few yards further on from the lighthouse. There is a charge of £3.00 to venture down the single track road but is wotrth worth it or you can walk the three miles or so to the point. The point is actually three and a half miles in length and 60 yards across in places. One of the most striking features of Spurn is the black and white lighthouse near to the end of Spurn. Now just an empty shell not used since it was closed down at dawn on the thirty first of October 1986.
This place is a stunning photographers paradise with its crumbling victorian built sea defences and wooden groynes along the beach which makes the whole area very delicate. Well worth a visit at anytime of the year.
