The best (and only) time to get to Antarctica is during the Southern Hemispheres summer, November to February. I went on an organised trip through an adventure travel agent.

Everything (except clothing) is included, but it VERY expensive.

Our 9 days included 5 travelling there and back, so we got four days on the Frozen Continent itself.

It never got cold enough to stop my EOS 10D from working. I took a 'phototainer' storage device with me and came home with over 11gb of images.
