Home town of the famous architect Santiago Calatrava.

The location is of a ten year architectural development designed by Santiago. The land used to be the old river stream that ran through the City. They drained the water out and this is where the architecture is situated.

The area is made up of a Science Museum, Planetarium, Opera House and a Promenade. The Opera House has two symmetrical sheets of concrete that are structured away from the building itself giving a sense of a massive warrior helmet.

The Planetarium during the day looks like an insect as at night looks like a huge eye with the reflections of the water.

The Promenade has an oval shape metal structure that in time will have flowers and trees growing up and around it.

The Science Museum is very tall standing building that has an unusual shape to it like all the features of Santiago Calatrava Architecture.

Went to Valencia last year with the sole purpose of taking photos of the City of Arts and Sciences! First saw it on a calender and was completely in awe of the architecture, its like nothing on earth.

Came back with a great set of photos, a couple of which I have added to my gallery, with many many more waiting to be added.

I would recommend anyone keen in modern architecture to give this place a visit.

Chris.
