As a child everyone is interested in drawing and colouring. Katrijn Michiels was no exception to that and she took some lessons in drawing, painting and sculpturing for kids. Most people give up his hobby as they grow up, but she only became more interested in expanding her techniques. In 2002 she started her studies as a Graphic Designer at the Royal Academy for Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. Since then she has learnt to work with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign. Her interest in making traditional art slowly faded away, and she began working digital.

About a year after the start of her studies Katrijn developped an interest in photography, which only grew stonger. Over the years. She started out with a cheap camera, but soon bought herself a Canon Eos 350D, which of course improved her photography.

Katrijn Michiels is a pure self-taught photographer, but is of course influenced by her studies as a graphic designer. Especially towards composition, colors, and postprocessing the images. In photography, she started out with selfportraits, but is now occupied with model shoots, mainly portrait, fashion and conceptual pieces.

Katrijn Michiels has been featured is a number of different magazines and had a few exhibitions.
