Everything in one lens
Buy both - I used them on my 5D II and they were superb. The 24-105L is a great leave it on the camera 90% of the time type of lens as it covers a really useful range whist the 70-200 f4L is a lovely portrait and intimate landscape lens. Second hand is certainly the way to go at the moment - been changing over to the "dark side" with the aid of MPBs second hand prices and trade in facilities ;-)

Nikon D3100 or D5100 ??
I second the D3200, I'm getting one as a second body to my D7000, specs look amazing for the price plus its new tech so with have more longevity than the D3100/D5100 for not really any more money. Matt
Forum: Beginner Photographers
No idea - I didn't get a normal one to compare against ;-) From the photographs I have seen comparing them it does offer slightly greater sharpness and detail. Given you can't recover such things once lost by an AA filter, and given that many people would pay the same amount extra between the D800/D800E on a lens for as much better or less, I kind of think it is worth it. The other way o...

Full frame trend
Olympus is a big company - bigger than most realise. They produce many optical products, not just cameras and have cornered the market in certain medical devices. Despite Olympus's recent financial scandal, it seems to be felt that Nikon is more vulnerable as it is more camera-orientated.

What will Canon do about the D800?
Pixel binning will allow the user to have the benefits of very high resolution or very low noise depending on their requirements. I think this may be the basis on which the 41Mp Nokia sensor for camera phones will be operating. As there is no optical zoom, resolution will be reduced when you use the digital zoom, thereby keeping the noise level the same and you will still get a decent photo...

Upgrade dilemma
Good L grade glass stay whilst bodies come and go. My 24-105 has been with me from film EOS 3 and 5. Got the 20D and 5D mk 1 to replace the film bodies. 20D got replaced by 7D 18mths ago and 5D mk1 is still going strong. I did not think that the 5D mkll offered anything extra over the mkI execpt for extra pixels and video. Will be interested in the mkIII, but the lens remains the same and ...

Buying a new camera soon, 60d possibly
I never said he was perfect guys! But generally he is very competitive on most things....Last thing I purchased from him was my MP-E 65mm X1-5 lens and that cost me £715 through Ian, Wex wanted at the time £849. But as with all things it pays to shop around, but that's the beauty of the internet, at least we don't have to traipse around through all the High St shops anymore......Thank the Lord ...

First Videos with Canon EOS 5D Mark III
I sent my 5DmIII back. The D800 has better video performance. Interesting! How long did you try both cameras out for? :) You not seen the 2 side by side video's the 5D3 walks all over the D800 and was better when it was stepped down you lost out there

Act of Valour - Shot on Canon EOS5D II
“Nothing is as small and nimble as our Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera packages,” said Hurlbut, a member of the American Society of Cinematographers" They should get out more. The Panasonic GH2 is just as good as the 5D mark 2 and the newer mark 3 - and is even smaller. EOSHD Review

New Cameras - really all that ?
Which would lead me to beleive this : Post tsunami Canon struggling to get factories up and running certainly not ready to produce new models take the workings of the 7D and stuff it inside a re-arranged 5D2 body with some new buttons and new badging , a couple of hand me downs from the 1dx which is not yet ready and hey presto on paper a brand new model. In reality for a 5D2 user something ...

eos 5d questions
I still believe I can see a difference in quality between the 5D and the 60D- despite the extra pixels the full frame of the 5 seems to deliver a certain.....I don't really know, it just seems to deliver more quality Well yes, Steve, the 5D is significantly 'better' in terms of image quality largely because it packs fewer pixels into a larger area. There's a certain enjoyment to be had from ...

New Canon Lens 24-70 2.8L announced
I agree with you on the jitter thing. Even if Canon do start releasing products that are aimed more at videographers it's still good news for stills shooters. If film makers are choosing Canon EOS instead of Sony all the better. The bigger the market for things that fit on the EOS mount then the better. It means more products, more third party products and a bigger second-hand market.
