Book Reviews
This field guide, which is designed to fit in your camera bag, takes a more in-depth look at the settings your camera offers and also offers a few other shooting tips. It's easy to read, simple to follow and gives examples on how you can get the most out of your camera. It's not an exciting read that will have you waiting in anticipation for the next page but it is worth a look at if you're a new Canon EOS Rebel T3i/600D owner.
This is not the most exciting book you'll ever read, however it does give plenty of information about the Canon EOS Rebel T3/1100D. Think of it as an extended manual that also offers tips and techniques. It uses large text which is written in paragraphs that are easy to follow thanks to the use of headings and images throughout. As the book is small it can be placed in your camera bag, making it perfect for taking out on shoots with you when you're still learning about your new camera. I...
If you've read your Canon EOS 60D manual and are still looking for more information on how to use it then take a look at this book. This book gives you jargon-free explanations on how to use your camera and what each of the controls are for. The information given is easy to understand, the chapters are well written, feature helpful images and the book's small enough to fit in your bag next to your camera. The end of the book also has a section full of general shooting tips too which is ...
Do you find the manual too boring or not easy to understand? Well the digital field guide series is for you. The format's easy to follow and the book is well written and features useful diagrams. An added extra which you won't find in the manual are the hints and tips at the end of the book which cover basic shooting advice. It's not a book that's bursting with inspirational imagery that makes you want to grab your gear and go but it is a handy book to have that's definitely more useful t...
This guide takes you through everything you need to know to use the camera and take good pictures successfully. Everything from the basic controls of the camera to the best ways to use white balance and other such controls are covered, it also tells you what accessories will work best and why. The book is easy to follow and understand, the text is large and split into easy-to-follow sections and the images that accompany it are well captioned. The index can help you find what you're look...

Canon EOS D30
Canon's first "budget priced" digital SLR has the look and feel of an EOS with a competitive price to Fuji and Nikon alternatives. Having the EOS lens mount gives it wider appeal along with the easy to use handling that EOS owners love. Canon have chosen a CMOS chip to record the 3.11 million pixel images and there are plenty of modes to keep all kinds of photographer happy.

Canon EOS 400D
The Canon EOS 400D, called Digital Rebel XTi in North America and EOS Kiss Digital X in Japan. A mid-range digital single-lens reflex camera first released on August 24, 2006. An improvement of the 350D with a 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, a larger continuous shooting buffer, an integrated image sensor vibrating cleaning system, the precise 9-point auto focus system from the EOS 30D, improved grip, and a bigger 2.5-inch (64 mm) LCD with 230,000 pixels. The 400D uses the DIGIC II image processor, as is used in the 350D. It was succeeded by the Canon EOS 450D in April 2008.

Canon EOS 5D
The Canon 5D is now a modern classic. It was the first Prosumer Canon full frame digital SLR that most keen amateurs could afford and it rewarded them with smooth 12.8 megapixel files. The area where if wasn't so strong were focusing and frame rate. It struggles in low-light to focus and chugs along at a poor frame rate of around 3fps. This camera was a benchmark for Canon and certainly there are many still going strong to this day on their second and third shutters.

canon EOS 1D mkII sensor
Thanks I did pay to have it cleaned in my local camera shop and they gave it back leaving me to believe that it was clean and when I got it home and gave it try-out the sensor was dirtier than when it went in to them, even after bulb blowing the sensor clean I am still getting particles on the sensor I have lost all faith in their workmanship and am afraid to return the camera for them to re do...

Why I have to leave Olympus
USE FILM again !! My boy was GIVEN an Olympus OM2n with 50mm f1.8 and 70-150mm Zuiko lenses and gets very good results -- no 'SOFTWARE' problems at all -- I develop his B&W and most of his C41 or take it to a High Street Pharmacy which has an account with SIGFOTO laboratory who do an excellent job of processing and printing C41.

Metal or plastic bodied camera
There's always going to be a weak link so to speak with plastic or metal cameras, internal/external. I treat my cameras rough. Not on purpose but it's just how I work. The first week I had my 5DMii, the LCD looked like like a horror show. Doesn't bother me really, just need it to preform.

Crash!
Shame the TITANIC wasnt built of plastic eh. Plastic has a bit of give in it so it probably absorbed a bit of the impact, However try to avoid doing it again. One problem you can have is where metal parts have to screw into plasic mouldings, I remember years ago i had a plastiky canon eos 5, I dropped it from shoulder hight had a 75-300 attatched to it when it bounced off my laminated floor ...

Everything in one lens
Buy both - I used them on my 5D II and they were superb. The 24-105L is a great leave it on the camera 90% of the time type of lens as it covers a really useful range whist the 70-200 f4L is a lovely portrait and intimate landscape lens. Second hand is certainly the way to go at the moment - been changing over to the "dark side" with the aid of MPBs second hand prices and trade in facilities ;-)

Nikon D3100 or D5100 ??
I second the D3200, I'm getting one as a second body to my D7000, specs look amazing for the price plus its new tech so with have more longevity than the D3100/D5100 for not really any more money. Matt
Forum: Beginner Photographers
No idea - I didn't get a normal one to compare against ;-) From the photographs I have seen comparing them it does offer slightly greater sharpness and detail. Given you can't recover such things once lost by an AA filter, and given that many people would pay the same amount extra between the D800/D800E on a lens for as much better or less, I kind of think it is worth it. The other way o...

On past history i noticed the best lens within your budget is the 80-200,before i got my 75-300 i saw a few lenses going for well within the budget you are looking at, and if i had not won mine the 80-200 was going to be my next bid:D

Canon EOS 30D
I'm not sure what you mean here, Umberto. The camera setting do not affect the RAW image only the JPEG. They will dictate how the RAW image looks when you first open it in Canon DPP software, but that is fully reversible. The JPEG however is irreversibly rendered. Probably the JPEG is what i'm meaning. Sorry. I bought the 30D off of a friend and he had set up some of the custom setti...

New Lens
The top line would be the 100mm f2.8 macro (without IS) - it is a bit longer than is classically used for for portraits but some do use it. And it is one of the sharpest lenses you will ever buy. Alternatives are the 60mm macro plus a flash unit or the 50mmm f1.8 + extension tubes + flash. The flash is surprisingly useful for macro as well as portraits - the 430EXII is about £200 new and the 5...

Can anyone help?
There are also a few 300D's and 350D's listed on Ebay, within the price range, some well below, be ideal if one is near you and you can take a look before you buy. My first Dslr was a 300D and it's still going strong not used much due to my current cameras, but I'm hanging onto it so my kids can learn on it. Batteries are around £10 for a twin pack, you can use a fairly small capacity C...
