Re finance I doubt any camera shop deals will be good so go to a bank or even better just save up or buy what you can afford. Unless it is for business use where you can offset costs v,s earnings the message from the current situation is avoid credit. If you cannot afford to buya D70000 with cash can you afford it?

Sony SLT A77
If you try the A77 make sure it has the latest firmware (1.05). This has a lot of improvements - in particular it makes the camera operations much faster.

Everything in one lens
Buy both - I used them on my 5D II and they were superb. The 24-105L is a great leave it on the camera 90% of the time type of lens as it covers a really useful range whist the 70-200 f4L is a lovely portrait and intimate landscape lens. Second hand is certainly the way to go at the moment - been changing over to the "dark side" with the aid of MPBs second hand prices and trade in facilities ;-)

Macro and portrate lens advice.
Challis, If you are on a budget there are ways to do macro on the VERY cheap. It isn`t rocket science either. Macro DIY Yes forking out X hundred pounds will give you control over your macro shots but for inanimate objects, fun can be cheap. Sorry Pete, hope it`s ok to post some info like this. Stu

Whether that is accurate depends on the newspaper standard I was referring to national newspapers which I know best but, as you say, the same standards broadly apply to local papers. JPG is the world standard for editorial submission now and anyone who supplied anything else would be out of the frame. For publications to accept RAW files would be like a company car trasnport manager who l...

New go-everywhere camera
That's really what impressed me most about it. It seems to have great latitude, leaving a nice histogram to fiddle with if needed.

It's still a darn good deal, and you will enjoy the camera.

Considering leaving Pentax
Does Leica know that auto focus is now in vogue? AF first appeared in a mass-produced camera 35 years ago (Konica C35 AF). But Leica doesn't like to rush into anything new! :D Oh well, at least their S2 has AF............ but at £17k (body only) I don't suppose too many EPZers have one! ;)

The 70-200 F4 with image stabalisation is better image quality than the none IS. It can be used with the 1.4 extender and still provides great results. I thought it a worth while upgrade from the non IS. Have a look at http://www.the-digital-picture.com/ for a review of most things Canon.
