Micro 4/3 for professional use
Thanks Pete. I never use JPEG, if RAW is available. But it looks like the RAW images are also corrected in-camera. That said, I used my Pen with old manual Canon FD lenses and never found any issues. So correction can't be overly drastic. But it leads, I guess, to a whole new discussion! What matters more - the end result, or how you get there? ;)

DSLR damp squibs?
The 1Dx is really an update on the 1D4 It's a replacement for the 1D4 and the 1Ds3. The lines have been merged. But it leaves the highest res canon as the 5D3 which is way behind the Nikon D800 in resolution.

Do Women make the best photographers ?
There;s still a bit of logic left in me yet Bloggs ;-) Been turned to the dark side of "making pretty pictures" for a living from the very logical engineering/IT past... as you can see, Ian's logic is also intact... and he's back using the Force in IT land again

How long and what got you into photography?
Got going back in early sixties,my dad and uncle would spend hours in their darkroom (AKA mums bathroom) hand tinting negatives I loved watching the print emerging in the dishes. X-Pro1
Gets reviewed in this month's BJP and also Luminous Landscape did a piece recently. Both make interesting reading in that while they concur that image quality is indeed fantastic, the aspect that Fuji seem to promote most avidly (the viewfinder) is not the holy grail it purports to be. Luminous Landscape refer to it as a 'quirky gem' !!

But if video is not important it would be worth looking at the Ricoh CX5 at about half the price of the S100.

My view on it is this: A limited camera will restrict the type of shots you can do well. If you stay within those limitations, you can produce pictures as good as any more expensive camera. A more fancy camera with a better lens will open up a wider range of shots that you can do well, and more easily. I speak from experience here - I used to use an all manual Practika MTL, and my earliest p...

Walkabout digital camera suggestions
I shove a Sony NEX 5 c/w 18-55 in my coat/ jacket pocket whenever I am going out and a DSLR seems inappropriate; the former takes stunning pictures; I took this yesterday at the London Boat Show with my Sony: As an aside (apologies OP) people were wandering around with DSLRs taking pictures; not a word was said by anybody about not being able to take pictures .... well done Excel!

infra red
Nice IR image from Snapper and his S2 Pro. I sometimes use a Hoya R72 on my S3 Pro. In my case, I found the best method is to focus without the filter, then carefully switch to manual Focus, screw the filter in place, and start guessing the exposure time. These 2 images are among the best I've managed to achieve, purely down to focusing before adding the filter. Also, as others have ...
