FAQs
2 Go to the gallery and view your uploaded photo.
3 Underneath the photo you will see [Upload New Version] | [Edit] | [Delete]
Click on Upload New Version to begin uploading your first Version
4 Fill in the description for this version which will appear under it when you hover over its number in the gallery.
5 The Version type should be set to the type of photo you are uploading. These include four categories: Before and After, Tutorials, Reportage/Documentary and Variants.
Before & After is intended for photos with a before and after version and any developments in between. A before photo is one that's straight out of the camera with no external processing. If you want to show HDR please upload at least one original exposure so we can see what the conditions were like.
Tutorials should be used for a series of photos that describe or teach a technique or process of taking or modifying a photo. This option must include detailed captions that explain the process of each step of the tutorial. so viewers can have a go themselves.
Reportgage/Documentary is for a series of shots that are related (ie: Photo Journalism or images that are used in a montage)
Variants is used when trying out new lighting or editing techniques. Use this category as a sounding board (ie - three different compositions/crops and ask which is preferred.)
6 Repeat step 3-5 if you have more than one version (semi edited, different treatment etc) Up to 19 more can be added. Note that you will now see [Upload New Version] | [Manage Versions] | [Edit] | [Delete]
7 Now when you view the thumbnail of a photo in the gallery you will see an icon displayed under it to denote it's a Version shot. There are four Icons indicating the type of version Before & After (B), Tutorial (T) Reportage/Documentary (R) and Variants (V).
8 When you open a Version photo you'll see a number sequence (1 and 2 if you have only uploaded 2 shots) The displayed photo is number 1. Hover over the other numbers to change the display and compare. If you have several versions you can click on one of the other numbers to make that the displayed photo and hover over others to compare.
9 Click on Manage Versions below the photo if you want to edit the photo descriptions or display order or delete one. Each photo is managed individually. The thumbnail that displays in the gallery is always the photo that was uploaded first and should be the best/preferred shot.

My post perhaps did not answer your question fully as the video shows how to make a grey background white at the time of shooting. Here is a good tutorial that will show how to make a good selection of the background so it can easily be changed or replaced. It is quite long at 34 mins. Another one. Hopefully one of these will be helpful to you :).

I would use a window for the light. Have your wife stand with her back to the window and place your reflector in front of her. The natural light will give a nice rim light to the subject and the reflector will give the face/body light so as not to be a silhouette. Here is a video I found helpful. http://www.ephotozine.com/photography-videos/video/window-light-portrait-tutorial-2290

Yes, I agree, two lights as the main, and use the speedlite on the highest stop behind the subject, and it will highlight the background as well as give a nice highlight around the edges of peoples heads to give a more interesting group shot, that's if you place the flash in a correct position. I'm investing in the 500/500R, how is the kit so far? How much was the power pack? Or was it incl...

Pete's tutorial is all about playing with light to recreate the look of spirograph art work so we want to see your examples of lighting painting. Feel free to have a go at the tutorial and post your results but we'll be happy to see any styles of light painting. I thought it was pretty much covered in the thread title Zatoichi - 'I will make a video tutorial about anything in photoshop.' :D My mistake, many apologies. I retract my request for help in the hope that the member concerned will return.

Process versus Technique
To get the pics to the level/look they need, it's a proper skill from what I can gather - stuff the agent was chatting about was mind boggling really, it'd probably not be cost effective to get me to do it as it'd take forever ;-) Don't get me wrong, I edit all the portrait/landscape/wedding stuff I do - but big projects... you're just a small cog in a wheel really. ww I'd rather be chat...

I never really liked the geotechnics part of my degree I must admit... piles and all that jazz. I guess for most people, a photography course would be about "fun" or gaining "inspiration" - a boost to their hobby, so there's no real "need" to go on courses they don't like. I guess a better question than the inital one would be... For what purpose would you go on a photography cours...

Lets face it your not going to need flash camera kit, a cheap digicam would do.

help needed to improve photos.
I agree with Jestertheclown. I used to upload images for votes as I thought was a good way of seeing how good/bad my photos were. Nothing could be further from the truth. I now upload for critique as this is the best place to get feedback on images. Thanks to feedback I received on 1 image of Jamie Archer I was able to go away and have an other go and came back with a far better image.
