Tilt and Shift lenses
Thanks for the information everyone. I am either going to purchase the MK I TS or rent the later version for certain shoots, as I find PS corrections lose too much image quality. I start with a sharp image and after only slight vertical corrections, it starts to become very soft. I mean, what is the point of having the quality of the 5d MK II and losing it all when correcting convergence.

shift lens
I raised this question a few weeks ago. I think Ron is right in his view of tilting the ccd sensor. This would be the equivalent of the old rising and cross front camera. The system was for architectural use only, and allowed a photo of a building to be taken in which you could measure dimensions without the pictorial problem.

Problems with Tilt Shift Lens and Adapters??
Thanks all. There are some Canon to Nikon adapters, these are either supplied with or without a correction lens. "Without" means you loosed infinity focussing , "with" means you have distant focus, but from posts earlier on this string and a bit more research, tells me to avoid these as the quality is often poor??? After the help provided on this string and a bit more research I'am abort...

prime lens for architecture pics
Thanks guys :) I went for the 20mm Canon in the end, very impressed with warehouse express delivery :) Seems like a nice toy; out of interest when i calibrated it, it came in at 20.8mm, not 20mm.

Lenses for architectural photography
Straightforward barrel or pincushion distortion (gradual curves) is easily corrected post processing - there are many options some under £100. Mustache distortion (wavy lines) is much more difficult to correct. Just about any wide angle zoom has noticeable barrel distortion at the wide end, which usually becomes nil somewhere near the middle of the zoom range, and changes to slight pincushion...

Hi Kevin, i investigated doing this for a little while, but the £900 price tag of the lenses put me off. I then went on to discover that the effect can be created fairly easily in Photoshop. Take a look in my PF there are a couple of shots there that i think look not a million miles away from shots done with a dedicated lens. http://www.ephotozine.com/photo/850654/large http://www.ephoto...

Macro Lens help (Nikon)
Quote:Talk about condescending and patronising. Still, posting waffle and twaddle, is one way to distract us from the issue at hand. Here's a nice picture: link If you think you can take that hand held, you'd better get a tin helmet, as you don't want to be knocked unconscious by falling pig poop. As the other poster said, it would be nice to see examples images. All mouth and no trousers...

a lens for taking wedding photos
Barney, Just start by buying good quality lenses. The 17-55 f2.8 is what you need. But the rest of the guys are right too - you need a hell of a lot more than just a new lens to do weddings these days. Forget the lensbaby idea too - my clients didn't appreciate the effect, only photographers. Andy.

Something similar is tucked away in Picasa, and that`s free used the Picasa soft focus quite a few times myself, and yes, agree it's a bit similar, but still, the results compare to these like a skoda to a Ferrari.

How to create toy model type photos using a tilt lens effect in Photoshop

Buildings are something we will probably never run out of. Everyday a new crane goes up in a city to start work on a new set of apartments or office blocks. One set of people whose living comes from buildings are architectural photographers and ePHOTOzine spoke to Paul Freeman, an architectural and interiors photographer to learn a little bit more about this line of work.

If you don't live near the coast or countryside don't worry! You can still shoot landscapes.
