Roy thanks for that information. I have decided to defintely go ahead but had not realised that there was an option which excluded colour IR. I will look into that but I have read an excellent article on colour IR by Clive Haynes so I am tempted to go that way unless ther eis some disadvantage. Dave

Thank you for your input, its most welcome.. Ive just been reading a fantastic article about exposure blending by David Clapp: link In it he explains that its hard to hold filters in front of such lens, do to the reflection it can cause.. But I may look into the Lee filter holder option you mentioned Rob, its worth a go... Lee

Has it been done before? PhaseOne were looking at doing a special batch of sensors for one of their backs a few years ago. They needed firm orders for a "quantity ?" before commiting to production. Not sure if it happended.

which DSLR?

Dont forget that with the D60 you are a bit limited for Auto Focus as it doesn't have the drive in the body, which means you can only use ( AF-S and AF-I ) lenses for that, as already said try holding a few different ones

Hi i use the Fuji IS-1 infrared camera with a B+W 092 filter. you shoot at normal speds and apertures, during the summer i was using F8 @ 200th. 28 to 300 mm lens. look at my portfolio, "frenchie44" all the IR pics were taken using the Fuji.

I've always had focusing problems with the 10-20mm on my DIY converted d70, but the link i added to Petes article on IR show that others have had the same problem - The manual-focus @ 1m technique works for me with the d70 and the 10-20... http://www.ebb.ns.ca/general/tech/infra-red_d70.htm

Sounds like the SD14 is a bit like the DP1 - quirky but with the ability to deliver in the right circumstances.

I think brand new babies rarely look good photographed alone. Prefer to see a parent in shot. Strawman's advice is spot on re the camera and lenses.

Just because you pressed the shutter release doesn't mean that you created the photograph. I could set up a complex image and let my 4 yr old daughter press the shutter release - does this make her a good photographer? That makes her a good daughter. :o)

Which marque

Thanks Cambirder, that's a really generous offer. Sadly, the 5D is out of my range. Maybe when I get something in a while (I'm not going to rush into it and make a mistake) we could meet up and compare? Best wishes, David
