Book Reviews
Magic Lantern guides are a little thicker than the manuals that currently come with a camera, but approach the handling in a different way. The manuals are usually written by photographers who use that particular brand of camera, whereas instruction manuals are often writen by the japanese arm of the manufacturer and translated so often things are not explained well. With this EOS book we hope it's a pro photographer who knows the ins and outs of the market this camera is intended for. The o...
This book wont be winning any beauty prizes but the information it has on offer lets it off a little. The book covers a wide selection of topics and is written in a clear and concise way. The lack of colour lets it down a little as the black and white images mean details, such as camera diagrams, are not clear. This is a good reference guide that will help you learn more about your camera but it wont help you improve your technique. If you're looking for a reference guide that's easy ...
This book is a great guide for any Canon EOS Rebel XS/1000D users who want to learn more about the camera they use . The book takes you from the basic controls of the camera to the best ways to use white balance and other such controls and finally to accessories that will work best with the camera. The book looks similar to a school text book which makes it easy to follow and understand. The text is large and split into small, easy-to-follow paragraphs and images are well captioned. ...
This book is designed to show you how to make the most of your digital camera. The book offers explanations of all the controls and menus and offers picture taking advice which both the beginner or series photographer can appreciate. The layout is simple and easy to follow and the language used will allow you to skip through this book at ease. The book is well illustrated and captions give you extra pieces of information which support and add to the main body of text. If you're looki...
This book is really easy to read and the author has made the usual technical wording very clear and easy to understand. All the functionalities of the camera are covered in detail and the colour photos illustrate the points made well. The layout is neat, easy to work through and is organised well. If you don't feel you're classed as a beginner and you need a little bit more information than what you find in the manual then take a look at this book.

Canon EOS D30
Canon's first "budget priced" digital SLR has the look and feel of an EOS with a competitive price to Fuji and Nikon alternatives. Having the EOS lens mount gives it wider appeal along with the easy to use handling that EOS owners love. Canon have chosen a CMOS chip to record the 3.11 million pixel images and there are plenty of modes to keep all kinds of photographer happy.

Canon EOS 400D
The Canon EOS 400D, called Digital Rebel XTi in North America and EOS Kiss Digital X in Japan. A mid-range digital single-lens reflex camera first released on August 24, 2006. An improvement of the 350D with a 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, a larger continuous shooting buffer, an integrated image sensor vibrating cleaning system, the precise 9-point auto focus system from the EOS 30D, improved grip, and a bigger 2.5-inch (64 mm) LCD with 230,000 pixels. The 400D uses the DIGIC II image processor, as is used in the 350D. It was succeeded by the Canon EOS 450D in April 2008.

Canon EOS 5D
The Canon 5D is now a modern classic. It was the first Prosumer Canon full frame digital SLR that most keen amateurs could afford and it rewarded them with smooth 12.8 megapixel files. The area where if wasn't so strong were focusing and frame rate. It struggles in low-light to focus and chugs along at a poor frame rate of around 3fps. This camera was a benchmark for Canon and certainly there are many still going strong to this day on their second and third shutters. Affectionately referred to as the Canon EOS 5D Mark I.

As you have interest in night photography this is a good review http://www.davidkinghamphotography.com/blog/2013/5/nikon-d7100-cropped-sensor-for-night-photography Be careful using Ken Rockwell as a reference guide, I find it one of the most misleading references on the web - the picture control referenced above (vivid +3) would render the images as if they had been at some 60s psychedeli...

Canon FD-Canon EOS
FD lenses need an adaptor with a lens inside to make it focus properly to infinity. Such adaptors of acceptable quality are rare and expensive, but they do exist. If you have a set of great FD lens it may be worth considering one. Otherwise - you may try cheaper (non-Canon) versions with no guarantee of decent performance.

EOS M.
Canon's Masaya Maeda interviewed on dpreview.com: Despite this understanding, he concedes that the EOS M hasn't yet been fully able to exploit this market. 'Looking at worldwide results we've seen users are limited to certain regions - we're seeing very positive sales in Japan and South East Asia, looking beyond that we haven't established market share yet.'

My advice is don't treat the 650D as an Entry Level Camera. It's closer to a professional camera than an entry level one. If someone who wanted to buy a DSLR for the first time and want to have a camera to do the odd shots here and there, I would tell them to either get a Compact Camera or DSLR no higher than the 600D.

Being the market leader in the fastest growing sector of the photographic market is a tough title to hold on to, especially with most major camera manufacturers announcing new entry-level products this year.
