Book Reviews
A colourful and interesting handbook that shows its audience how to handle their Digital SLR to the best of their ability. There are lots of colourful pictures which makes it a lovely little guide with informative text. The author tries to explain his techniques and how he used certain products to better his photographs. It's a portable manual that is a bit old fashioned in style and writing. I feel it's priced out of its range at £16.99,even though he's a good writer this book isn't his best wo...
This book is designed to help you use all of the features of your new Digital SLR camera and use the various modes other than automatic to get the best photos possible. If you are new to Adobe Photoshop then this book has a section that will teach you to fine-tune your photos. There are also ten tips on the following subjects: Improve your DSLR Photography, Things you never thought of doing with your DSLR camera, online resources for DSLR Photography and Confusing Concepts Clarified. The book ...
Who better to introduce the world of SLR than one of photography's leading authors? Freeman tackles the art of digital SLR photography by taking a two-step approach: technology then technique. His dissection of what goes on inside the case may confuse the casual consumer but for those who want to know exactly what lies beneath the surface of their camera and how it all works to produce those crystal clear pictures, the first part of this book is an invaluable reference. The second section focuses ...

Re finance I doubt any camera shop deals will be good so go to a bank or even better just save up or buy what you can afford. Unless it is for business use where you can offset costs v,s earnings the message from the current situation is avoid credit. If you cannot afford to buya D70000 with cash can you afford it?

Why I have to leave Olympus
USE FILM again !! My boy was GIVEN an Olympus OM2n with 50mm f1.8 and 70-150mm Zuiko lenses and gets very good results -- no 'SOFTWARE' problems at all -- I develop his B&W and most of his C41 or take it to a High Street Pharmacy which has an account with SIGFOTO laboratory who do an excellent job of processing and printing C41.

Can anyone help?
There are also a few 300D's and 350D's listed on Ebay, within the price range, some well below, be ideal if one is near you and you can take a look before you buy. My first Dslr was a 300D and it's still going strong not used much due to my current cameras, but I'm hanging onto it so my kids can learn on it. Batteries are around £10 for a twin pack, you can use a fairly small capacity C...

megapixels how much is too much
Whether that is accurate depends on the newspaper standard I was referring to national newspapers which I know best but, as you say, the same standards broadly apply to local papers. JPG is the world standard for editorial submission now and anyone who supplied anything else would be out of the frame. For publications to accept RAW files would be like a company car trasnport manager who l...

Full frame trend
Olympus is a big company - bigger than most realise. They produce many optical products, not just cameras and have cornered the market in certain medical devices. Despite Olympus's recent financial scandal, it seems to be felt that Nikon is more vulnerable as it is more camera-orientated.

What will Canon do about the D800?
Pixel binning will allow the user to have the benefits of very high resolution or very low noise depending on their requirements. I think this may be the basis on which the 41Mp Nokia sensor for camera phones will be operating. As there is no optical zoom, resolution will be reduced when you use the digital zoom, thereby keeping the noise level the same and you will still get a decent photo...

Amateur Photographer D800 test
There is a lot of good feedback. Digressing to D3s (which I have) compared to D4, I bought the D3s within a month of release at £3,400. As an NPS member I could probably get aa D4 within a month - but at around £5,300. There is no doubt the D4 is a better camera - but for me not 50% better - and my D3s makes first class A3 prints :) Where the D800/e cames into my equation (not necessarily an...
