Snow scenes
I often shoot competitive skiing here in Canada, so run into this routinely. There should be no photoshop required, you just have to meter properly. The good news is that this is far easier with digital than it ever was with film. First, you can take a white-balance off the snow. Then you can increase the exposure (metering off the brightest area of blank snow (nothing else in the frame) that y...

...it is rude to attack people so why do you? you say: post an opinion by all means why should we if we get attacked for it? ..why comment if you do not like it? Like the pose on this and the lighting; arm maybe obscures the face a bit too much for me. Like the shot though. John seems to me john did like, it, and had an opion on how to make it better, yet you sti...

Do digital SLR's make it too easy......
Camera club judges can too often by pompous and ignorant in the subject, sorry, opinionated in the subject. I am no great photographer but I stopped entering inter-club competitions for this reason. Someone who has spent years judging the same thing may not be the best to judge the new, we may grow older but too often we do not grow wiser.

The trouble with all manual writers is that they know what they mean but you may not. We've had this problem for years. You need an expert to write the manual but it always needs to be checked by a complete duffer, if they can make sense of it then it's OK, if they can't then it needs re-writing.

More importantly at A4 size, 80% couldn't tell the difference between 350D and 1Ds II and even at A3 size, which is about the biggest most people print, it was as much as 66%. I think that 20% is quite a lot of people, especially if they were not photographers. 34% is really substantial. What would be interesting is to perform the same test with a Nikon F55 and a Nikon F6.
