Better Cameras DO Take Better Photographs
So far as I recall, Cartier-Bresson trained as a painter, and then tried photography. Using the usual and somewhat clumsy cameras of the time, his work was not particularly good. Then the Leica range became available, and was just what he needed for the instant drawing he wanted to do. At the time it would have been the latest thing in technology, very expensive, with new models, lenses, and a...

A dongle used to be the term for a piece of hardware, typically with a parallel port plug on it My brother used to run a electronic circuit board etching machine via a CAD program casting about £3,000 that could only be used with a dongle in place. Don't trust the view on your LCD, check the histogram. What looks "perfect" on the LCD may well be over-exposed, with blown highlights. Allow the equipment suffcinet time to aclimatise with a cold environment if coming from a warm environment, and visa versa.

protective filter on good glass
I've just read the BJP article about long telephoto lenses. It mentions that all the Nikon products use a meniscus protective element at the front to reduce damage to the optical components - just like the old Pentax ghostless filters of 40 years ago. If I'd just paid between 5k and 10k for a long lens, I'd be glad of this protective element.
