How long and what got you into photography?
Got going back in early sixties,my dad and uncle would spend hours in their darkroom (AKA mums bathroom) hand tinting negatives I loved watching the print emerging in the dishes. Dad took me to a Russian trade show at earls court and I ended up with a russian twin lens reflex, cant remember the make wish i still had it might be worth a bob or two. Had various cameras over the years Rollieflex...

Walkabout digital camera suggestions
I shove a Sony NEX 5 c/w 18-55 in my coat/ jacket pocket whenever I am going out and a DSLR seems inappropriate; the former takes stunning pictures; I took this yesterday at the London Boat Show with my Sony: As an aside (apologies OP) people were wandering around with DSLRs taking pictures; not a word was said by anybody about not being able to take pictures .... well done Excel!

What MIRRORLESS camera do you have?
Does anyone know what sort of life it is meant to have? Panasonic gave me a free 5 year warranty with my purchase of my G2 last year, Panasonic must think its very good :)

I find that the 'unknown people' are often writing based on practical experience and real-world aspects that make a realistic difference Agree and its often best to read more than one review to get the full picture. I often find reviews from well known places often include inaccurate or misleading information, very often the reviewer only has a short spell with a camera.

Which is the best camera for beginners?
You can get second hand Canon 40D's pretty cheaply now and they're a cracking camera. Start with that, see how you get on, start building a lens collection then when you're ready to upgrade your 40D, you can get any Canon DSLR and it'll just slot in perfectly :-)

If you use the program settings the camera will activate the flash when it thinks it needs the light. If you set it to JPEG (or, preferably RAW+JPEG) and use Av mode (or Tv mode) then you decide when the flash is used. - If you are talking pictures of dolls you have complete control of the lighting so can set it up so you have a good shutter speed. But you may do better putting your £700 t...

Nikon D3s or D3x
If you have serious 'investment' in Canon, why not consider Canon? The fact that you do not know whether to opt for the D3s or D3x suggests that you just need good build, enough pixels and decent high ISO capability. For weddings, high ISO might be good (in church photos without flash and outdoors on a dreary day), not that I am a wedding wonk. If you really need massive prints and tank like bu...

Now that the price has dropped below £800 I suspect that there may be renewed interest in this camera - or has it just come too late? A year on we have several competitors in that price range with either zoom or interchangeable lenses.

V5 Gallery Upgrade
I had a problem last week when I got a message that there were more than ten tags and would it not continue to upload. It therefore appears that nine more tags can be added in addition to the main one.

Sony Alpha A33 - SLT performance
The SLT 10fps is limited to lens wide open and no image to the user as to what the camera is looking at. Big drop off's. No. It shows a kind of slide show of the last picture you took, so it's about 1/10 second behind. It's fine. I decided to dig out Sales figures for Japan in September, yup those SLT cameras are flying off the shelf about one for every four 550D sold. The SLT...
