Let's ditch 'street photography'
There is bias towards lanscape photography on this website. Well, the landscape is always there around you, be it country or urban landscape. To me, the urban landscape is the more interesting. However, both need some exploration and patience for the best result. So does street photography. jas

It starts at the top. The people who hire these security guys are frightened of come backs if it were proved that a security breach occurred and was directly attributed to a photograph taken. You may say "Fat chance" but its them who would take the can back.

Amateur Vs Press photographer
Recently I was travelling to meet up with a friend, I had the camera bag (with new DSLR) in the boot of the car. As I was driving on the motorway I came across a very recent (less than two minutes) accident. I stopped to offer help to both drivers. While I was there I offered to take shots of the incident, no injuries just shocked drivers and passengers, both drivers accepted my offer. I had s...

I've had a few experiences of being asked to stop taking photos because I was using what looks like professional equipment, or a tripod and I have to say that for the most part the people who spoke to me were polite buy my experience yesterday makes me wonder how far the paranoia associated with photographers will go. It was a great day, sun shining and low in the sky so I set off to the loc...

Off-putting experience
On the original subject, this is something we've seen in recent years at the Edinburgh Festival, and it's happened to me too. The "statues" guys are trying to make an honest (?) bob, and many object to being used as models for no return, and many don't get approached by the public if they are being stalked by a photographer. I've only ever had one guy give me the "finger wag" treatment, but ...

ePz goes to Paris 7/8/9 April 2006
I have posted my first shot, and in spite of Boyd's Scandalous suggestion, it's categorically not SuziBlue... It's also not the sort of image I'd have expected to take before going out to Paris but I was very struck by the level of homelessness (and the number of tents!) in Paris. It's a shame about SuziBlue's phone problems but, hey, I had a fun weekend in spite of the difficulty of meeti...

I have decided to go for another property now. It is quite a bit more expensive but is in a good location and it has 9ft high ceilings. Lucian It would seem that Lucian has taken on board at least one piece of the the advice given i.e. a larger property would be needed to house his backdrops etc. Presumably during the "It's suddenly gone quiet" period Lucian had been busy searching fo...
