The Decisive Moment
And it must be even more difficult to start up and survive these days. Yes, so much competition and, in the media, so many people working for nothing. I became a photographer after answering an ad in my local paper, The Kent and Sussex Courier...yes they advertised for a trainee. Today such staff jobs hardly exist and where they do are poorly paid and insecure. When I first went to F...

Local Camera Clubs ?
I must admit to having little interest in current camera club vogue here in South Bucks for street scenes and high key almost at the detriment of any other subject; luckily today's whims and fads will fall to the bottom of the pile to be followed by another fashion; the danger with the camera club mentality is that like begats like and some but not all members end up imititaing each other endea...

Feral riots really annoy me.
Something I suggested many years ago in a letter to our newspaper; we should have rehabilitation centres for government beaurocrats, elected members who have been there for long periods, and any other government employees who demonstrate a break with reality; just to give them a bit of a jar to remind them who is paying their salaries, and keep them reasonably sane.

Lucian It would seem that Lucian has taken on board at least one piece of the the advice given i.e. a larger property would be needed to house his backdrops etc. Presumably during the "It's suddenly gone quiet" period Lucian had been busy searching fo...

Has it ended? Yep, 'fraid so. 9th to 16th was my slot. Went by so fast, and an almost silent day to finish it off... :( I'll sneak in the answers to this last lot though! Did you enjoy it? Sure did. It was good to get a few things off my chest that I'm not really talking about to people around me, work colleagues etc. Did you learn anything from doing it? Hmm, I probably didn't learn ...

Let's ditch 'street photography'
There is bias towards lanscape photography on this website. Well, the landscape is always there around you, be it country or urban landscape. To me, the urban landscape is the more interesting. However, both need some exploration and patience for the best result. So does street photography. jas
