Olympus E-620
Quote:Whether you agree with it or not there was/is a perceived, and measurable, difference to the cameras the Olympuses were competing against in these two areas. And in fact on an Olympus forum I sometimes visit it seems to be accepted that care needs to be taken with the highlights and that the above ISO400 performance 'could be better'I wonder if that's the same site I would visit once in a ...

canon s95 or olympus pen e-pl1
I have been doing a lot of reading and watching videos about the Pen E-PL2. I always seem to do this after I've committed myself to purchase equipment. Am I deranged?....................... No, don't answer that!! :D Everything I have seen looks very favourable indeed. My interpretation of the reviews etc is that it is, probably, the best ILC camera out there at present if you look at ...

Nikon, Canon way better than Olympus ?
No you're right, it isn't as dark as that. ;) The problem is, I think, I am shooting with a lens with a max aperture of f/3.5 whereas your S95 has a max aperture of f/1.7 which is vastly better for video in dark conditions. But stick a fast lens on my Pen and I would expect a truer result.

K7 Pentax
What no Phase 1 digital back Matt how could you.:D Compare on price, yes fair point. Talking about reviewers getting accused of bias, I read another site (where they bicker on every nuance of spec and review) their D3S review. They would appear to have complaints from Nikon, Canon etc users each complaining about a bias for/against Nikon in the review. The bit that impressed me the mo...

Pentax K-7 vs....?
If you were in the market for a DSLR at the K-7 level and had no company bias or loyalty, which other models would you be looking at with the K-7? The D90, the equivalent Sony, the Canon 500D, 450D.

Micro 4/3 discussion
Hope you have not lost too much in selling that 5D. Well I've had it best part of 3 years, and I got a price for it with which I am very happy, so it's all good! ;) I'm certainly not ruling out getting a 5D3 in due course but it will depend, heavily, on whether more (commissioned) video work comes my way. I don't really think I could present the Pen's video as pro quality. Although rath...

Advice on downgrading from 5d mark II
James I wish you well with your sale. I think you'll get a decent price now you have some feedback. I reiterate to anyone interested in James' 5D II that I bought the 24-105 L lens from him and it was delivered immediately and in mint condition.

olympus pen E-p3
And you in turn have made unsubstantiated assertions that the EP3 system is inherently better (by unsubstantiated I mean reference to articles that support it). Call it quits, eh? Crikey, this is a prickly forum. The fact that the mirror-less cameras determine focus at the sensor is "inherently better" because that's where the final image is being recorded - pretty uncontroversial...

The D60 is the same as the D40/40X in that it will only autofocus with sonic drive motor lenses. That said, most of the sigma range now have HSM motors in Nikon fit (as do one or two Tamrons) and can be used on these cameras. Ian

Death of the DSLR
But, there's always the window to look through as a re-assuring backup. As a passenger I wouldn't like the idea of 'no window backup'. But we are losing 'focus' again and the post is becoming 'coloured' again !! Then, maybe that's reasons to have an OVF ?

Which Digital SLR To Go For?
Hi Kinfatric, Just to give you a view from an Olympus E-300 owners point of view. Like you I was debating which DSLR to go for when I found out I could use my existing OM lenses off my OM4 on it with a free adaptor from Olympus Europe. This hasn't arrived yet (only had the camera a week). Scene modes on the E-300 are very handy way of setting the controls for a given situation, with setting...

Going for the E3
Well had the E-3 what a couple of weeks now, enjoying it Struggled with the one touch WB have to google to find out I needed to program the function button first lol Bit cheesed I have the FL-36 and not FL-36R as i would have loved to use the wireless option with that. Few little apparent teething problems but I think more user error, getting used to where everything is etc. My older M...
