The Pentax K-x review is finished. :) Pentax K-x review

Pentax K-x ISO
The iso is set to iso 200 for a reason. Base iso has a lower dynamic range than 200. ISO 200 hundred is the optimum minimum iso on your kx.

If it's anything like the K-r, don't hestate. I almost got the K-x but found I could afford the k-r. K-x is certinly one of the best reviewed cameras of the last year or so.

Hi I'm new here what Dslr?
You said in your OP that you wish to shoot landscapes. Pentax are brilliant for that kind of use, as they are the most waterproof cameras out there (to my knowledge). I've been out in rain and snow with mine, and never had any problems, even when my friends pack up and hides their cameras from the elements. I would also invest in a sturdy tripod, as that's a "must have" for landscapes.

S'Hand Manual SLR with mirror up
The last time i had my camera serviced (when they did the battery adapter) was about a year to 18 months ago and it cost 100, which may sound a lot but it's like having a new camera.

"While anyone contemplating buying a camera and not already "tied in" to a particular brand may be interested in the opinions of other users, I think we do have to caution against placing too much significance on those opinions. The fact of the matter is that most of the products by most of the major manufacturers are now so good that there is ver...

DSLR or bridge camera?
Thanks Strawman and Jester and everyone who has taken the time to comment and pass on their knowledge to a newbie, it is really helpful to get different opinions, I will take my time and think it through a bit in light of what you have said. I'll let you know once I decide. Linda

Back to basics!
My first SLR was a Canon EOS 500n, which served me very well for a few years, but while doing the city & guilds course I was lucky enough to be 'lent' a Nikon FE (c.1977). I found the manual camera made learning the mechanics of photography so much easier, and I started getting better results from it. I still have the FE in my posession (it's not really mine though), which has been joined by...

Mirror lenses on DSLRs
I've seen a lot of mirror lenses on overstockers.com. I suspect that their wide barrels would make it difficult to connect them to some modern DSLRs with overhanging pop-up flash housings. When mirror lenses were popular (in the 1980's) cameras had pentaprism housings that did not stick out (far, if at all) beyond the front of the camera body. Professional DSLR's have their housings high above ...

Buying yourself anything nice?
3 weeks ago our Christmas presents to each other was a 5D Mark 2. Today I ordered us each an OpTech Pro Camera Strap, should be here tomorrow. The bank balance has been smashed so I think that will be it for a while.
